If you have not heard of SchoolhouseTeachers.com, it is a fabulous homeschooling resource. They have a yearly membership that includes a full scope and sequence education for PreK-12.
I tell you what, I so wish I would have known about this resource when I was first starting out homeschooling. Warning, you could get information overload if you are new to homeschooling. There is so much information on the site.
What is Schoolhouseteachers.com?
SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers full courses Prek-12. The courses vary from simple to follow printable curriculums to interactive video courses. Membership also includes a record-keeping program where you can keep track of all courses covered. It will even act as a transcript through the year, and parents can print out report cards.
I LOVE this record-keeping aspect. It has been a challenge for me keeping track of all of what I need to. It’s somewhat organized in my filing cabinet, but in hard copy and handwritten notes. We live in Hawaii and state requirements make it to where I need to be organized in this area. I will keep membership for this alone. How simple to have it all digitally in an area where I can mark attendance, and courses covered.
We started our membership right before Christmas. I was delightfully surprised that SchoolhouseTeachers.com has various Christmas curriculums to follow. We really enjoyed watching the Candy Cane Story and going through the questions at the end.
I try to limit our screen time, however, there are days that the screen is welcomed. I liked that they have story videos. It’s almost as though someone else is reading my boys a book. I know it’s simple, but I really liked that they had men reading the stories we listened to. My boys are so used to hearing a woman read to them, that I appreciated them being to read to by a man.
There also are wonderful videos for the whole family to enjoy. We watched a few of the Christmas videos. It’s hard finding good videos to watch and I like that I can trust the videos on the site to hold true to Christian values.
My favorite part about the membership is that Michelle Howard from TruthQuest History has book lists and curriculum on the site. She has a list just for Christmas. We enjoyed getting books from the library using her list.
I’ve already bookmarked the Advent Craft Course for next year!
When it comes to user ability, the site can be almost overwhelming at first. There is so much information. If you’re used to only using apps on your phone, it takes an adjustment looking through all of the grades, courses, and resources.
However, the staff is very friendly and if you have any questions they are sure to find the answer. I appreciated their email welcome sequence. Every couple of days, they highlight a different part of the site.
Worldbook membership is included with SchoolhouseTeachers.com membership. My boys have been enjoying their interactive games and read-aloud story videos. I found out about this when I was looking through the literacy center.
My favorite thing I have found is the ArtAcheive membership included. You can choose between PowerPoint slides or full video tutorials for the art lessons. We have used other art curriculums in the past, and I have found them difficult to follow if you’re not super artsy.
The PowerPoint slides and videos with the ArtAcheive courses are so simple and detailed. Anyone who is not artistic could follow them.
The course we are still going through is Creation, Nature, and You. We are eclectic and more on the Charlotte Mason side of learning. I absolutely LOVE this course. It is exactly what we were needing to cover for science this year. It is comprised of videos and a questioner to go through at the end of the video.
Schoolhouseteachers.com would benefit you
It is my opinion that SchoolhouseTeachers.com ultimate Prek-12 membership
SchoolhouseTeachers.com’s ultimate Prek-12 membership would greatly benefit families with older children. The parent could assign the courses to be completed and the child is able to do them.
With younger children, there are many courses to choose from. The resource page of scope and sequence is also helpful for beginning homeschool families to figure out what they should be covering.
The membership would be an excellent resource for families of larger size due to the monetary savings of being able to use the curriculum again and again. Worksheets are easily able to be printed off.
Can I also add that there are great elective courses and bible studies that adults could take and enjoy. There are parent resources as well. Part of the joy of homeschooling is being able to learn all over again. Many parents who homeschool, weren’t homeschooled themselves. I know for me, I LOVE being able to learn things all over again and from a Christian worldview. It’s absolutely fascinating.
The only thing I would like to see different would be the membership forum. It is on Facebook. They used to have a platform to check on the site, but have since switched. I understand most people do the Facebook thing, however, I know I am not alone when it comes to having a conviction to not participate in the platform.
SchoolhouseTeachers.com Ultimate Prek-12 annual membership is a great resource for homeschooling families. The courses are easy to follow. The memberships included within the membership make the price so worth it. Truly, the value received is incredible and a must-have resource for any homeschool family.
Feel free to ask me any questions below about the membership, or comment if you’ve used it yourself and tell me some courses your family has enjoyed.
